Broadway Boulevard Pilot in Progress

July 2009

The pilot scheme for pedestrianising a section of New York's Broadway, between Herald Square and Columbus Circle, will run from 24 May to December. At this point Mayor Bloomberg will determine whether to remove vehicular traffic on a permanent basis. Billings Jackson Design is working on surface treatments, zoning and street furniture for the new boulevard, which incorporates the notoriously congested Times Square.
