Tecton is a ‘continuous-row’ lighting system designed by Billings Jackson on behalf of Grimshaw for Zumtobel. It is a high volume, low cost and adaptable product that overcomes the shortcomings of established continuous-row fluorescent systems.
The launch coincided with the Milan furniture fair and Billings Jackson was commissioned to design a display format. The design solution is a box lined in anodised aluminium, with each key detail displayed in six penetrations in the interior wall of the cube.
The penetrations were given a strong red background to highlight the importance of each detail and were illuminated by the Zumtobel team to create the effect of a series of floating objects.
