Unifor "Big Table" Desking

Billings Jackson Design was commissioned by Grimshaw to develop an office furniture solution for the Western Morning News print works in Plymouth.

The solution was developed with Unifor in Italy. Dubbed "Big Table", the desking is carried on a fixed, folded steel spine with a minimum number of legs. These penetrate the raised floor and bring all power and data up to the table top, allowing the spine to serve as a wire management system with an access panel down its centre.

Although the structure is fixed, the inherent flexibility in the design and the sensitivity to the architectural planning has made for an enduring solution.
