Station Improvement Project

Billings Jackson is and has been sub-contracted to each of the design-build contractors responsible for delivering the Station Improvement Project to modernize 32 subway stations throughout New York. For each package the firm’s role has been industrial designer responsible for developing the directive drawings into detailed designs ready for manufacture and fabrication.

Billings Jackson has completed the designs of various components, including entrance canopies, static and digital information panels and totems, consolidated wire-way covers with integrated lighting, benches, lean bars, and new waste bins. The designs prioritize robustness, ease of maintenance, and future proofing to allow for changes in technology; a system approach that is the cornerstone of the firm's design principles.
